At the California American School, students learn for the real world, not just for school. Our curriculum goes beyond the classroom and anticipates the world in which our graduates will work and thrive. Our students own and lead their learning, in environments that offer them real problems and connect them to experts as they work toward solutions. With forward-thinking best practices, our educators create authentic learning environments where students address real problems and have the opportunity to meet outside experts.
Students are encouraged to look beyond grades as they pursue learning through a wide variety of authentic experiences, both in and out of the classroom
In high school teachers and students share the responsibility for active learning and our faculty engage students in an atmosphere, which promotes inquiry and intellectual risk-taking. Students are encouraged to look beyond grades as they pursue learning through a wide variety of authentic experiences, both in and out of the classroom. In order to help students balance and navigate the complexities of such experiences, we have developed a seminar program. This allows students and their personal and academic counselors to discuss topics that are relevant to student life such as time management, responsible use of social media and healthy relationships. In addition, counselors provide emotional support to students through the ups and downs that may naturally occur as they aim for their personal and academic goals.
